Roanne R. Shaddox, CIPP/G, joined the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation’s (FDIC) Privacy Program, as a Senior Privacy Specialist in 2007. In this capacity, Roanne works on a wide range of strategic planning, policy, compliance and employee awareness initiatives aimed at maintaining a culture of privacy throughout the Corporation. Roanne received an Individual Mission Achievement Award in 2009 for strengthening privacy protections related to the bank closing process and in 2008 for strengthening the FDIC Privacy Program. She also serves as a co-chair of the Best Practices Committee of the Federal CIO Council Federal Privacy Committee. Prior to joining FDIC, Roanne served as a senior privacy consultant to the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Privacy Program located within the Office of the Chief Information Officer, Office of the Secretary, providing strategic planning, policy, budget, reporting and compliance support in response to a wide range of legislative and regulatory privacy requirements stemming from the E-Government Act of 2002 (Section 208), Privacy Act of 1974, and Section 522 of the 2005 Consolidated Appropriations Act for Transportation/Treasury. Roanne received the Departmental Privacy Excellence in Service Award in 2007, in recognition of her support of the DOT Privacy Program. Prior to her work at DOT, Roanne served as Vice President of Jefferson Data Strategies, where she managed and oversaw the business development activities of the Washington, D.C.-office and served as a consultant on privacy engagements with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Defense Security Service. Before entering the privacy consulting field in 2001, Roanne served as Chief of Staff and Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary at the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce. Prior to joining the federal government, Roanne served as Director of Industry Affairs for the National Cable Television Association and Administrator of the National Congress of American Indians. Roanne is an enrolled member of the Hopi Tribe of Northern Arizona.
